Wearing Our Flesh

Red clay,

Sparse pasture,

Barren land.

Here, to become

Wrapped around

Like an itchy coat

Our flesh hid

Your Glory.

Did our skin shroud–

Human hair and eyes and feet–

Sting against Your Divinity?

You heard pulsing through you veins–

Endure another day,

Until blood spilled,

Until Heart breaks,

Until You awaken

In new flesh.
