Numbers

Numbers don’t lie.

Standing on  plastic and metal

Watching the small red line

Push past model to athlete to—

Not even worth mentioning.

Then, limp off  like a dog

Tail tucked, whimpering

To bury yourself in the shower–

Since numbers don’t lie.

  1. Numbers might not lie, but the attachment we put to them sure does. The happiest, healthiest people I know don’t even own a scale. Maybe there’s something to that.
